Get listed where buyers look
Find the directories worth your time, submit copy that survives review, and track which listings actually send you people.
This is for you if
- Your product shows up nowhere except your own site.
- You submitted to a long list of directories and can't say which ones did anything.
- You're looking at a paid listing and can't tell whether it's worth it.
What this will not doListings get you an outside mention and a trickle of qualified traffic. They aren't a growth channel on their own, and submitting to more of them doesn't improve the odds.
Your plan
Week 1
Step 1Write your product facts once
Every directory asks for the same handful of fields in a slightly different shape. Write your name, one-liner, long description, category, and pricing once, then reuse them.
Done whenYou have one document with every field a submission form asks for, and you've stopped rewriting your one-liner from scratch.

Look for directories that already list products like yours and have a real person moderating. Skip the ones that accept anything — nobody reads those, so being on them proves nothing.
Done whenYou have 8 to 15 named directories, each with a reason it fits. Not a scraped list of 200.
Step 3Calculate the break-even on each paid listing
Put the listing fee next to your price and your real conversion rate. That gives you the number of signups the listing has to produce before it pays for itself, and you get it before you pay anything.
Done whenFor every paid listing you're considering, you can say how many signups it needs to break even.
Week 2
Step 4Submit the first batch with links you can track
Send five to eight with tracked URLs, so you can tell which listing sent which visitor. Untracked submissions teach you nothing about where to go next.
Done whenEvery link you submitted has a campaign parameter, and each submission is logged with its date and status.
Step 5Fix listings that describe you wrong
Listings drift. Editors trim your description, categories get reassigned, and a few months later your product is described five different ways across the web.
Done whenEvery live listing names your product the same way and points at the same URL.
