How to manage a directory submission campaign
Keep every submission easy to review
A submission tracker turns an unstructured list of websites into a campaign with owners, states, dates, costs, and evidence. Begin with a researched shortlist, save the exact record or form URL, and move each destination through ready, submitted, approved, or rejected states.
The tracker saves entries in local browser storage and exports a portable CSV or JSON file. It does not submit on your behalf, verify approval, or synchronize across devices.
- Researching means the audience and eligibility still need review.
- Ready means the listing brief, assets, and owner-required facts are available.
- Submitted records the actual action date; Approved should include the final live listing URL in notes or the URL field.
- Rejected is useful evidence—save the reason instead of silently deleting the destination.
What to record for every directory listing
Record the directory name, the exact submission or Mydentify research URL, the current state, action date, fee, expected or verified link type, and any requirement that may block completion. After approval, replace a form URL with the live listing or preserve both in the notes.
Fees are only part of cost. The downloadable file can be extended with preparation time, owner, referral sessions, signups, and attributed value when the campaign becomes large enough to measure.
Review outcomes, not submission volume
A high submission count is not the goal. Review approval rate, time to approval, listing accuracy, live link treatment, qualified referral activity, and the conversations or citations a listing creates. Recheck important listings after a redesign or material product update.
Export the tracker regularly, especially before clearing site data or switching browsers. The CSV opens in common spreadsheet software and gives you a durable record without requiring a Mydentify account.
