What Orphan page means
An orphan page is a page that exists on your site but has no internal links pointing to it from anywhere else on the site, making it hard for a visitor or a crawler to ever find.
A founder might publish a detailed comparison page, link to it once from an email campaign, then forget to add a link from the homepage or navigation, leaving the page technically live but essentially invisible on the site itself.
Being in a sitemap does not fix an orphan page. A sitemap can help a crawler discover the URL, but the page still lacks the internal context and link signals that come from being linked to naturally from other pages.
Find orphan pages by comparing your full page list against your site's internal navigation and links, and add at least one clear internal link to any page that is missing them.
Why this matters for builders
An orphan page can sit unseen for months, even if it is well written, because nothing on your site actually points a visitor or a crawler to it.
Mistake builders make often
Some founders publish a page, link to it once from social media or an email, and never add a permanent internal link from the site itself, leaving it effectively orphaned.
What to do now
Check your sitemap against your site navigation with the Sitemap Checker, and add internal links to any page that turns up disconnected.
