What Active directory status means
Active is a status Mydentify gives a directory record when the site still looks open for new listings based on the most recent check. It tells you the door looks open, not that your product will get through it.
Say you are picking five directories for a Tuesday submission sprint. Filtering to active status first means you spend that hour on sites that currently look reachable, instead of chasing a directory that quietly shut its doors last year.
Active does not mean a human will approve your listing, that the directory gives a dofollow link, or that it sends any traffic at all. Those are separate facts you still need to check on the live page.
To confirm status yourself, open the directory's homepage and submission form directly. If the form loads, accepts entries, and the site was updated recently, the active label is holding up.
Why this matters for builders
Use active directories first when you want a realistic listing path.
Mistake builders make often
Some builders submit to every directory in a list without noticing a few are marked paused or closed, wasting a submission on a dead form.
What to do now
Filter your shortlist to active directories in Browse directories, then confirm each submission form still loads before you fill it out.
