What Virtual wallet means
A virtual wallet is a wallet tied to an agent with limits set by a human-owned account wallet—often a max spend, allowed merchants, or a max payment size.
Cloudflare’s Wallets product describes Account Wallets for people and Virtual Wallets for agents. The agent can pay inside those rules without asking for a card on every request.
A virtual wallet is a buyer tool. It does not prove your seller endpoint is ready. Your API still needs clear payment terms agents can read.
If you are selling, verify the paid URL with an x402 check. If you are buying through agents, set wallet limits before you grant spend.
Why this matters for builders
When you let an agent buy APIs or content, you need a hard spend cap outside the model’s prompt.
Mistake builders make often
Assuming a claimed wallet handle means agents can already pay your product, even when the paid route never returns 402.
