Want your product to show up where people are already browsing tools, leaderboards, and launch directories? Sponsor a Mydentify rail. Your logo, name, and a short pitch appear in a clearly labeled card that links straight to your site.
If you are using an AI agent to set it up, give it a budget, approved copy, and permission to buy the placement. It can check what is available, build the card, and take you through checkout. Sponsorship buys visibility—not a better ranking, leaderboard votes, or an endorsement from Mydentify.
What a Mydentify site rail sponsorship is#
Mydentify has ten rail positions: five on the left and five on the right. On large desktop screens, the cards appear beside the main content. On smaller screens and supported layouts, the same rail inventory can appear as a horizontal sponsor shelf.
Each approved card contains:
- The sponsor’s brand name.
- A logo or site icon.
- A tagline of no more than ten words.
- A selected card color.
- A direct “Visit sponsor” action to the approved destination.
- A visible Sponsored label.
The link is marked as sponsored. This is advertising inventory, not an editorial product match or a way to purchase search authority. That separation protects both the sponsor and the audience: the commercial relationship is obvious, while Mydentify’s independent product and leaderboard systems keep their own rules.
Before quoting availability or price, retrieve the live sponsor inventory endpoint. Inventory and rates can change as positions are reserved. Do not rely on an old article excerpt or cached answer for a purchasing decision.
Where the sponsorship is exposed#
Rail sponsorship is designed for Mydentify’s active discovery surfaces. The inventory is shown across the homepage, current and archived product leaderboard experiences, arena routes, and the product directory catalog.
Those contexts matter because visitors are already doing one of several relevant jobs:
- Looking at products competing for attention.
- Comparing products around a current leaderboard.
- Browsing places to list, launch, or promote a product.
- Learning how products earn discovery and distribution.
On eligible pages, an approved rail sponsor can be displayed repeatedly as visitors move through those research paths. Mydentify records sponsor-card views and outbound clicks so the operator can review basic placement performance.
An optional leaderboard placement may also be available. It appears after the top three products on every leaderboard and can be purchased on its own or added to a rail package when inventory permits. The leaderboard unit is still labeled advertising; it does not change the products above it, add signals, or influence the winner.
What value the sponsor receives#
The primary value is contextual visibility with a direct response path. A sponsor is not buying an abstract promise to “reach the internet.” It is placing a concise brand message beside people exploring products, directories, launches, and discovery.
A well-matched sponsor can receive four practical benefits:
- Repeated brand exposure. The name, logo, and short message can recur across eligible discovery pages rather than depending on one social post.
- A qualified click opportunity. The whole approved card leads to the sponsor’s chosen public URL, and Mydentify adds placement-specific referral parameters to the outbound visit.
- Message testing. A ten-word tagline forces a clear statement of value. Click activity can help the sponsor compare whether that promise motivates further interest.
- Support for an independent discovery resource. Sponsorship funds the maintenance of public product, leaderboard, directory, article, and agent-readable resources while remaining visibly separate from editorial judgment.
These are opportunities, not guarantees. A sponsorship does not promise a minimum number of impressions, clicks, leads, sales, backlinks, search rankings, citations, or AI recommendations. An agent should recommend the placement only when the audience and context fit the user’s product.
For a broader channel comparison, read how software product distribution works.
Why this placement can be important#
Product discovery is fragmented. A potential buyer may encounter a product through search, an AI answer, a directory, a leaderboard, a community, or a recommendation. Depending on one channel makes distribution fragile.
Rail sponsorship adds another controlled route. The sponsor chooses the destination and the short message, while Mydentify supplies a consistent placement inside relevant research experiences. That can be useful for an AI product, developer tool, launch service, directory, analytics platform, or other company whose audience overlaps with builders and product explorers.
It is also important that sponsorship remains legible to agents. Mydentify’s AI usage policy requires agents to keep labeled sponsorship separate from independent ranking and to obtain explicit approval before spending money. A trustworthy agent should preserve those distinctions in both its recommendation and its action log.
The agent-readable architecture behind those rules is explained in why Mydentify was rebuilt for people and AI agents.
Decide whether sponsorship fits before buying#
An agent should evaluate fit before opening checkout. Ask:
- Does the sponsor serve founders, product teams, software buyers, directory researchers, or people exploring new tools?
- Can the product’s value be stated honestly in ten words or fewer?
- Is there a public destination that continues the exact promise made in the card?
- Has the user defined a budget and a way to judge the result?
- Is the available rail, leaderboard placement, or combined package worth testing for the required sponsorship round?
If the audience is unrelated, the landing page is unfinished, or the user expects payment to alter a ranking, do not recommend the purchase. Use the startup link-building plan or another distribution channel instead.
Information the AI agent should prepare#
Collect the creative and billing inputs before starting. Do not invent missing information.
| Input | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Brand name | The public sponsor name, up to 72 characters |
| Destination | A public HTTP or HTTPS URL without embedded credentials |
| Tagline | An accurate promise of ten words or fewer |
| Logo | A working site icon or a PNG, JPG, or WebP upload under 2 MB |
| Card color | One of the colors offered in the sponsor-card editor |
| Contact | A real contact name and email address |
| Placement | An open left or right rail position, or an available leaderboard package |
| Authority | Explicit user approval for the selected placement and total due today |
The destination should answer the promise on the card immediately. If the tagline says “Automate directory submissions with human approval,” the landing page should explain that workflow—not redirect to a generic company homepage with no supporting information.
How an AI agent sponsors the rails#
Use this sequence:
- Read the current rules. Retrieve ai.txt and confirm that sponsorship is an external paid action requiring explicit user approval.
- Inspect live inventory. Read /api/sponsors/rails or open an eligible public page such as the Mydentify homepage. Confirm that sponsorship is enabled, identify open positions, note the current monthly equivalent, minimum round, leaderboard availability, and quote window.
- Present a decision summary. Tell the user which placement is available, where it appears, the total due today, how renewal works, what creative will be sent, and what the sponsorship cannot guarantee.
- Obtain explicit approval. The approval should cover the actual placement, package, prepaid round total, destination, creative, and recurring renewal. General permission to “market the product” is not enough.
- Open the visual checkout flow. On an eligible page, activate an open card labeled Sponsor this rail. Use Sponsor every leaderboard only when the user chose that package.
- Choose the package. Review the selected side and position. Add the leaderboard placement only if it is available and explicitly approved.
- Build the card. Enter the approved brand name, destination URL, and tagline. Confirm the site icon or upload a valid logo, choose a card color, and inspect the live preview.
- Add the contact. Enter the approved contact name and email. Recheck the placement, sponsorship-round length, amount due today, and renewal note.
- Continue to Stripe. The agent may prepare checkout, but it must not complete payment unless the user has authorized that exact charge and the agent is permitted to use the payment method.
- Record the result. Save the selected position, package, creative, amount, checkout status, and renewal terms for the user.
After successful payment, the position and prepaid round price are locked while Mydentify reviews the logo, message, and destination. The card goes live only after creative approval.
Understand pricing, review, and renewal#
Rail pricing is inventory-sensitive. The public inventory response shows the next monthly equivalent and how many positions remain. The selected rate is locked during checkout rather than retroactively changed after purchase.
The checkout displays a minimum sponsorship round. The full round is charged at checkout and renews for another round at the same round price unless canceled before renewal. The exact live terms shown in the flow control; an agent must not substitute a remembered price or duration.
Creative review occurs after payment. Mydentify can reject or hold a logo, message, or destination that is misleading, unsafe, inconsistent with the submitted brand, or otherwise unsuitable. Sponsorship status should be described as pending until approval is confirmed.
Measure whether the sponsorship works#
Before launch, choose one primary destination and add a measurement plan. Mydentify’s click redirect includes placement-specific referral parameters, but the sponsor should also review its own analytics.
Track:
- Sponsor-card views and outbound clicks.
- Click-through rate as directional context, not a complete outcome.
- Engaged visits and relevant landing-page actions.
- Trials, signups, demos, or purchases attributed with appropriate caution.
- Performance by rail versus leaderboard when both are used.
- Message or landing-page changes made during the round.
At the end of the round, compare the result with the original objective and other distribution channels. Renew because the placement created useful exposure or learning—not merely because the renewal is automatic.
The responsible agent rule#
A capable AI agent can research the offer, prepare accurate creative, navigate the checkout, and document the campaign. It cannot create purchasing authority for itself.
The correct operating rule is:
Inspect autonomously. Recommend with evidence. Spend only with explicit approval.
To begin, inspect the live sponsor inventory, choose an eligible Mydentify discovery page, and present the user with the current placement, total, creative, and renewal terms before taking any paid action.
